Today is Amazon Prime Day, it’s like Black Friday in July!

So I’m sure you have heard by now that today is Prime Day at Amazon. I’s definitely a fantastic time to grab some great deals on some awesome smart home devices. Head on over to Amazon Prime Day Deals to browse some great deals.

Don’t delay, buy today!

You definitely do not want to delay to get your smart home devices. I decided to pick up a couple things myself. I have some Kasa Smart Bulbs and a Kasa Smart LED Strip ordered that will be here Friday.

I needed some new bulbs anyway and what a great excuse to buy some smart bulbs. Ok so technically I didn’t need the light strip lol. I definitely wanted to give it a try to see how it compares to the Hue Light Strip that I already own.

While I can whole heartedly recommend the Hue smart lights they are very expensive. I know for some starting out cost is a huge factor in what to get. I am going to be testing the Kasa line of products more thoroughly to see how they compare in quality and reliability.

I already have a few Kasa Smart Plugs and they have performed very well and are seem to be a high quality product. If the smart bulbs work as well then this will be a great place to start. The Kasa line of smart home products don’t use a hub, they connect via 2.4 wireless band for ease of setup. They also easily integrate with your Google Home or Alexa digital assistants and devices. This allows you to control them via voice commands or routines and automations.

What should I buy first?

I would definitely start with some smart bulbs first, like the Kasa Smart Light Bulbs. I would also recommend getting some Kasa Smart Plug’s for those devices that you want to be able to turn on and off that aren’t lights. You can also use the in-wall Kasa Smart Plug if you want to replace your old receptacles.

Then you’ll probably want to pick up a couple of the Kasa Smart Dimmer Switch’s for those lights where one switch is more practical that bulbs. I have a couple of these my self already in place and they work great. If you are eve a little handy around the house you can install these. You can also use the Kasa Smart WiFi Motion Sensor Switch which adds a motion detector so you can control lights when entering a room.

Setting up routines and automations.

Once you have all of that installed and running then the fun begins. You’ll want to decide on some routines and automations for the lights. For example you can have your garage lights automatically turn on when you enter and then go off after a certain period of time. Or you can have interior lights come on at a certain time of day and dim later in the evening if you want.

The possibilities are almost endless and only limited by your imagination! If you want to add a little pop of color you can get the Kasa Smart LED Strip and program all kinds of fun things.

Just do it!

The bottom line is just have fun creating your amazing smart home how you want to create it. Just do a little planning and decide what and where you want to start. Then go for it!

Starting out with some smart lights and switches is an easy way to begin. It won’t break the bank and can easily be configured.
